Interpretive Volunteer Updates

Dear Volunteers,

Happy Earth Day! We were delighted to welcome a new class of Interpretive Volunteers on April 16. Their first stop was the Conservatory of Flowers and their training will continue through May 14. I hope you will give Chloe, Geysa, Lydia, Shayan, and Laura a warm welcome at the Gardens as you see them out and about.

We are sad to share the news that Pat (Patricia) Koblenz (pictured on the right) passed away on April 11, 2024. Pat has been an avid volunteer at the Gardens since 2016 and has helped in countless ways as a rover, Plant Shop volunteer, and at special events such as Flower Piano, Wreath-making, and Gamelan in the Gardens. Over her years at the Gardens, she has engaged over 2,000 visitors and during my time working with her, I have appreciated her sense of joy, passion, and ability to build community and connection with each conversation. At the start of 2024, she inspired and initiated our most recent iteration of the Nature Journaling Meet-up. We will miss her presence at the Gardens.
