This spring, political science major Julianne Tran (Class of '22) took the journalistic experience she had gained writing for The Collegian to a whole new professional level. As an intern with TulsaPeople magazine, Tran developed stories that ran the gamut from food to philanthropy, from cycling clubs to international markets. She even graced the cover of the March issue!

An oily business
Historian Mark Boxell has put his 2021-22 Duane H. King Fellowship to good use. Drawing on the Helmerich Center for American Research's archives, Boxell drilled deep into the history and politics of land, race, oil and the environment in Indian Territory. With a monograph well underway, the next stop on his journey is an assistant professorship at the University of Nebraska.

Nursing power
TU's doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degree was named the highest ranked such program in Oklahoma in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report graduate school profiles. "Considering our dedicated faculty, exceptional experiential learning and a 100% first-time certification pass rate, we anticipate further improvement in our rankings as our programs continue to grow," said School of Nursing Director Bill Buron.

Plaguely speaking
Our series on innovative teaching and learning explores an Honors course led by Lara Foley that focused on COVID-19's impacts on various fields and disciplines. Among the students' creative responses were a children's book, poetry and film documentaries. The course "challenged me to question the way I think, what I've been taught and how I look at the world around me," said psychology and Spanish major Darina Martínez.
