Thank you for a wonderful January. We launched Magnolia Interpretation Stations at the Botanical Gardens this past month, hosted four in-person training events at all three sites and welcomed back our volunteers to the Conservatory after the two week closure!
As we welcome February, you'll see some new faces in the Gardens as the Education team launches their Garden Guides training on February 21. We are still accepting applications for this cohort if you know anyone interested in joining our interpretive volunteer community.
We hope you will be able to join us this month! Please sign up for more Interpretation Stations for Magnificent Magnolia; along with other opportunities to volunteer at the Conservatory and the Botanical Garden.
What's Blooming
Magnolia season is in full-swing — the team has declared peak bloom! Peak bloom is expected to last for at least the next two weeks through the President's Day holiday. Expect lots of happy visitors on the Valentine's Day Free Day (our regular second Tuesday of every month lands on Valentine's Day this year) and during the upcoming holiday weekend.
Click here to see the weekly checklist of what's in bloom. Note that checked species have at least one flower open, but aren’t necessarily in full bloom. This week, highlights coming into bloom include: the towering Magnolia campbelliii 'Strybing White' (Map #10), the critically endangered species Magnolia zenii (map #18), and the Star Magnolia Magnolia stellata 'Rosea' (map #20.)
Map Updates
Magnolia Maps are now available in English, Chinese, Spanish and Tagalog. We're also excited to share that large maps have been added near the Main Gate, North Gate, and the Conifer Lawn.
