Hello downtown friends -
On behalf of the staff and board of the Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP), we would like to take this opportunity to honor the life of Donovan Durband. Donovan was a great leader, organizer and Downtown Tucson enthusiast for over two decades. Over the years, he wore many hats including Administrator of Park Tucson, 2nd Saturdays Board Member, Founder of the Festival and Events Association of Tucson and Southern Arizona and many more positions that greatly benefited the community. He was also instrumental in his contributions to the DTP which included helping form the DTP in 1998, serving as the Executive Director and being a dedicated Board Member for many years. His years managing Tucson's parking system, implementing a signage/wayfinding program and championing a multitude of events were monumental to the successful development and evolution of downtown. Thank you, Donovan – your life and accomplishments have impacted many and we will miss you, friend.
A memorial celebration of Donovan's life will be held at the Fox Tucson Theatre on Saturday, June 24, from noon until 2 p.m. The family wants the event to be an upbeat remembrance of our beloved Donovan that will include a photo essay looking at his life, music that he loved and food that reflects the local culture Donovan embraced.
