Greetings Beloved Community Alumni and Friends,
The spring semester is well underway here at Emory University. We’ve had meaningful Beloved Community services on zoom and look forward to seeing many of our friends in Cannon Chapel throughout the remainder of the semester. Our lineup of preachers includes some of our Religious Life Affiliates, United Methodist Church General Secretaries and clergy, our Candler Chaplaincy Residents, and even one of our seniors. I’m excited to be leading a Lenten Bible Study connecting our faith with ecology. And my hope for this semester is that our students will continue to see the many ways their faith impacts their lived experiences.
The Emory Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL) remains busy building out our interfaith work. We are wrapping up a strategic planning process with Interfaith Youth Core after receiving input from many university leaders, faculty and staff collegaues and students at all levels. We’re also thrilled to soon begin construction on the Emory Interfaith Center, located at 1707 North Decatur Road. While our large gatherings for worship will continue to meet in Cannon Chapel, the new Interfaith Center will be a home throughout the week for meditation and prayer, student group gatherings, and study space.
We are grateful for your continued support that makes all our programs possible. Please mark your calendars for Emory Day of Giving on March 30 and 31. And I invite you to prayerfully consider giving to our Christian Life Fund this year.
Peace and joy,
Chaplain Maddie
