Final Thought… When you hear the word transparency, what do you think of? Open and honest communication? Being vulnerable and accountable? Being exposed and defenseless? Truth is, being transparent makes people uncomfortable, yet it is vital in every relationship. Transparency encourages collaboration and engagement, and it creates trust.
The Honolulu Police Commission understands this and recognizes PBS Hawaiʻi is a trusted entity, that can offer a safe space for open, honest and balanced discussion. It is why the Commission approached us with the idea of having the finalists for Honolulu Police Chief appear live on television and field questions from the community.
We welcome you to join us on Thursday night at 7:30 for a special 90-minute INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAIʻI. The final candidates in the running to be Honolulu's 12th police chief, will answer the questions you send to us via email, phone or Facebook. This is a rare opportunity for the community to ensure the selection process is completely transparent… and to be a part of much needed healing.
