December Student Spotlight: Wendi Weileman
"Personally, as a full-time career Sales Executive, my time is structured and little, and so the Loyola University online platform was an essential route for furthering my education. As a prior Loyola University classroom student, it was refreshing to see that Loyola offered online education. Once my son was graduating high school and starting college, I lit up my fire to get rolling on this degree. As a single mom with a busy career, time is my most valuable asset, so the online classes allowed me to manage my educational time with my weekly schedule. Law is my passion, and consequently, Loyola's Professor, Dr. Christian Bolden, continually illuminated my determination and passion in law and justice. Additionally, Professor Stelfox, Dr. Denney, Professor Picone, and Dr. Shariati have also played principal roles in my criminology studies. Further, Dr. Lindsay has been a ray of upbeat sunshine, allowing me to look forward to her economic lectures. And while archaic learning has passed, Dr. Corina Todoran, Loyola's Online Success Coach is a valuable resource to me, navigating through this modern-day online learning!
My son was the biggest motivator for me to continue on successfully with Loyola online. His structured schedule and successful academic standards push me to put my entire effort into each course I take on. My boyfriend, a talented engineer, has encouraged me to not only finish this degree but understand the benefits that this education is providing - a well-rounded academic. My wonderful parents initially gave me the opportunity as a Loyola student long ago, and I look forward to showing them that their hard work and love has put me into this situation to succeed. If you're already a Loyola online student, my motivation for you is to continue since you are already here. Formal education can be consuming, but it's rewarding for your mind and your soul. Just like a retired dancer or athlete, starting over is sometimes inconceivable and more difficult. Thus, as a student, don't start, then stop; just continue! "
Each issue we will feature an online student or faculty/staff member who embodies the Ignatian ideals of faith, truth, justice, and service in our online community. If you'd like to nominate someone, please contact ssconlinega@loyno.edu to share who and why you think deserves to be in the spotlight.
