May 2, 2020
Dear Students:
Commencement is a time-honored tradition at our University—an opportunity for us to gather on the Quad for a majestic celebration with our graduating students and their families and friends.
But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to postpone our May 2020 Commencement Exercises, which were scheduled to take place today.
I understand the disappointment this decision has caused. That is why I share this personal message with the members of the Class of 2020. As soon as it is safe to do so, we will welcome you—our graduates—back to campus for an appropriate celebration.
Until that day, I want all of our graduating students to know that our faculty and staff join me in sharing our pride in your accomplishments. You have received an excellent education at our University. Now, as Cardinals, you are ready to take flight into the world.
Congratulations and good luck.
