• José Constantine, assistant professor of geosciences, describes his research on flooding issues that cause toxic conditions in the city of Cahokia Heights, Ill. 
  
• “How far should people go to reverse ecological harm?” asks Laura Martin, assistant professor of environmental studies, in a short podcast about the role of restoration scientists in the past and present. In a separate article in honor of Earth Day, Martin writes about the public relations war between oil companies and climate protectors. Her new book, Wild by Design: The Rise of Ecological Restoration, was released earlier this week.

• Gold Carson ’23 was inspired by a book of poetry left on a chair in a bookstore. Now an English major and award-winning published poet, they have been named a Beinecke Scholar, receiving a $34,000 grant supporting graduate education in the arts.
• Lily Goldberg ’22, a finalist in the New York Times' 2022 Modern Love College Essay Contest, tries to read between the lines of a playlist. (The New York Times)
