For the last several years, the Alumni Engagement team has partnered with the Office of Student Affairs and Career Advising to co-host a MIV Residency Interview Preparation Workshop where local Prisma Health program directors answer specialty-specific questions in virtual breakout sessions, and SOMC alumni conduct virtual mock interviews and provide feedback with their student(s).
As always, we are incredibly grateful for these alumni volunteers. This year, we were able to pair 63 students with 39 alumni, 27 of whom this was their first time volunteering. Sixteen specialties were represented including anesthesiology, emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, neurology, OBGYN, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, otolaryngology, pathology, pediatrics, plastic surgery, psychiatry, radiology, and urology.
From the feedback that has already been received, this program left students feeling more confident and prepared heading into their interviews, and now connected to someone in their prospective fields who they can go to for guidance and support.
A huge thank you goes out to the following MD alumni for their dedication to our MIV students during this busy season:
