Available for Distribution - Rodents from NIA's Colony
The NIA Aged Rodent Colonies currently have an excess of mice (C57BL/6J, Balb/cBy, Balb/cBy x C57BL/6J F1) and rats (F344, Brown Norway, F344 x BN F1) of all ages (1-34 months). An active grant is not required to receive these animals, but please note that the animals are only available for investigators who are affiliated with legitimate non-profit U.S.-based research institutions.
Investigators who could use these animals should send a request to rodents@nia.nih.gov by June 30, 2025 with a completed justification for use of the NIA aged rodent colony. Requests will be fulfilled in the order received while supplies last.

NIA Summer Training Course

The 32nd Annual NIA Training Course provides intense exposure to current concepts in experimental aging research for 15-20 research scientists. It is designed primarily for junior faculty and advanced fellows with at least two years postdoctoral experience in cell or molecular biology or a related field. Senior scientists who wish to learn about current aging research are also welcome to apply.

Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) Planning Grants
Deadline: July 8, 2025
The purpose of the Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) Planning Grants program is to support federally-recognized American Indian/Alaska Native (federally-recognized) Tribes, Tribal colleges and universities, Tribal health programs, or Tribal organizations (collectively, federally-recognized Tribes and Tribal entities) to plan and conduct preparatory work for developing competitive NARCH applications.

McKnight Brain Research Foundation Innovator Awards in Cognitive Aging and Memory Loss
Deadline: August 12, 2025
The McKnight Brain Research Foundation (MBRF) and the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) will provide up to two 3-year awards of $750,000 (USD) each to advanced Assistant Professors and recently appointed Associate Professors (MDs and PhDs.) One award will be made to support studies focusing on clinical translational research and another award toward understanding basic biological mechanisms underlying cognitive aging and age-related memory loss.
