Get Prepared for Career Fair
Next week we will have a number of events to support your preparation for Career Fair and beyond!
Monday, Sept. 13 from 12 - 1:30 PM • 
Drop-In Career Advising 
  • Come to the International Student Center (MacMillan 017) to meet with Career Center staff for all your questions about using Handshake, searching for jobs/internships, preparing resumés, interviewing, or anything related to your professional aspirations. 
Wednesday, Sept. 15 from 2 - 6 PM • Level Up Your Career Prep
  • Come to the Armstrong Student Center (3rd floor, 3032) and perfect your professional tools with plenty of activities to choose from: Interview Tips, Resume Tricks, Work Authorization information & Professional Pics! Yummy snacks & great company guaranteed! ISSS will have a table there.

Thursday, Sept. 16 from 4 - 5 pm • OPT Info Session via Zoom
  • Want to know more about Optional Practical Training (OPT) and off-campus work authorization after graduating as an international student? ISSS staff will present info about OPT: what it is, how and when to apply, and other work authorization considerations.

Come play a game of human BINGO and win a cup of bubble tea! Stop by outside the ISC next to the MacMillan Hall parking lot to meet fellow Miamians, ask questions, and try a snack or drink from around the world.
12:00pm to 1:00pm (EDT) Wednesday, September 15 • Sprintax Introduction to US Taxes for Nonresidents
The Sprintax team will provide an introduction to US taxes for new and incoming international students, scholars and professionals. Topics covered will include an outline of filing obligations for nonresidents, tax information around working in the US and other resources to help nonresidents to understand their tax obligations while in the US.
3:00pm to 4:00pm on Friday, September 17  •  Driving in the U.S. Workshop

New to driving in the U.S., or interested in getting a U.S. driver's license?
Join the Miami University Police Department who will provide information about applying for a driver's license and driving safety tips. Also, you will get a chance to meet the police dog (K-9) Leo!
Please register in advance for this workshop at the International Student Center. All participants are also welcome to stay after to chat with police officers and enjoy some delicious donuts (from 4-5pm).

OPT season has begun for December graduates!

On September 11, students graduating in December 2021 are eligible to start submitting their Optional Practical Training (OPT) applications to USCIS. 
It typically takes at least a week to prepare your application and get it sent out once you begin the process. For instructions, please read through the OPT information on the ISSS website (see the “OPT Application Process” section).
Note that it usually takes at least 3 months for OPT applications to be processed by USCIS.  Have more questions about OPT and the OPT process? Register for the OPT Info Session on September 16 from 4-5pm.

UniDiversity Festival. Sept. 17, 2021 from 5:30 pm to 9 pm. Oxford Uptown Parks. National HIspanic Latino American Heritage Month. A community celebration and interncultural encounters.
Student volunteers for the UniDiversity Festival are still needed, so please sign up if you are interested in making this great event happen!
