Last Call for Camp Alumni Weekend |
BYM Quaker Camps invites Friends of all ages from all camps to join for an alumni campout Memorial Day weekend! We're kicking off a new tradition that will rotate among the camps, starting at Catoctin in 2026. In these immensely challenging times in our country and our world, come back to camp for a weekend of friends, singing, hiking, fire circle, and your favorite camp recipes. You can camp in one of Catoctin's peaceful cabins or bring your own tent. Meals will be provided. Word on the street is that there might be a banjo or two or three, and musicians are encouraged to bring an instrument!

A BYM Monthly Meetings recently received notice that the county was reassessing their property taxes because the county thinks they "have more land than is necessary for religious purposes and is proposing that the 'additional' land be taxable." The Meeting plans to appeal. Has your Meeting dealt with a similar issue? Are you a Friend with specialized knowledge in this area? Email GenSec@bym-rsf.org to be connected to the Meeting seeking help or information!

Grief Support Group, May 20 |
The Ministry and Pastoral Care Committee is now offering an online Grief Support Group on the third Wed of the month, led by Ann Riggs (Annapolis/Friends House), a chaplain at Johns Hopkins. The next meeting is May 20. Email admin@bym-rsf.org for the Zoom link. The group is open to anyone bereaved, of a parent, spouse/partner, child, friend, colleague, pet, etc. The experience consists of grief education based on the four tasks of grieving theory of William Worden, supportive group processing, and mutual encouragement to strong self-care during the challenging grieving process. Sessions are designed to be therapeutic but are not psychotherapy. Friends are welcome to come for one or two sessions or to stay for longer periods of time as may work best for them.
