TU’s “Academy” honoree
Many people affiliated with The University of Tulsa’s renowned petroleum engineering program are familiar with Tulsa University Fluid Flow Projects and its creator, Professor Jim Brill. What they may not know is Brill is a member of the prestigious National Academy of Engineering and recently returned to campus to mentor young faculty, help establish an energy-related center in the College of Engineering & Computer Science, and contribute to TU’s new Energy Council. “It’s an immense honor to come back to TU after 23 years away,” he said.

The science of art
Tiara Woods (BS ’23) always had an interest in science and math, but when the pandemic hit, she realized that a strict STEM path might not be right for her. “I thought about how I could combine my interests in art, chemistry, and art history. Through my research, I found out about the conservation field,” said Woods, who participated in a Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge project under Associate Professor of Art History Maria Maurer. Woods has since been accepted into the prestigious Andrew W. Mellon Opportunity for Diversity in Conservation.
