Knoxville native and Business Consultant, Talesha Littlejohn had taken on a call to help the Morningside Community Center, (fondly nicknamed "The Turnkey Community Center"). The center's outdoor space was in need of a little TLC. Talesha, along with the Morningside Heights Homeowners Association decided to jumpstart the summer’s fundraising efforts by hosting a community picnic with all proceeds benefiting the center's rehabilitation campaign.
As she pulled into her driveway that same afternoon of that simple prayer, a Seeds of Change truck was parked in front of her neighbor's home. She sensed it was more than mere coincidence. Talesha approached our crew to ask if Seeds of Change might consider helping with the landscaping at the Morningside Community Center on short notice. One of our amazing Project Managers, Jill, connected her with our office and Talesha, recalling her prayer that morning, passionately presented this serving opportunity to Seeds.
We happily accepted the invitation and made plans to mow and trim the community center grounds before the picnic event this upcoming Saturday (and Meg added some flowers too!). Talesha also invited Dr. Kevin Parks of SEEED (Socially Equal Energy Efficient Development) to provide volunteers to assist with the project.
Together, through Talesha’s faith and obedience, Seeds of Change and SEEED have had the opportunity to partner in serving Knoxville and continuing their mutual focus on impacting our city for good. Here are a few photos our team captured to share this inspiring community service collaboration with you:
