New this school year, we're excited to offer the Statewide School-Based Bicycle Education Program: Let's Go Bike Education!
This FREE program is a multi-week bicycle curriculum for students in grades 3-8 that meets Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) Health & P.E. standards.
The Let’s Go Bicycle Education Program, which is taught in classrooms during P.E., is part of the Move Ahead Washington transportation bill, funded by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), and administered by Cascade Bicycle Club (CBC) in partnership with the AESD Network.
If you are a PE teacher or school administrator (grades 3-8), contact ESD 105’s Bicycle Education Regional Coordinator, Cassody Leadon, to express interest in being added to the rollout schedule. There is no cost, and no need to apply to access the program. The development of the program’s infrastructure, including building thousands of bikes, will be completed by 2039. In the meantime, new schools will be prioritized based on the equity centered criteria outlined in the legislation (ESSB 5974, Sec. 419).

Advocating for South Central Students

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, legislators from the 13th, 14th, 15th and 17th districts joined superintendents and school board directors from across the region to discuss our key funding priorities for the 2025 legislative session. In attendance were Senators Nikki Torres and Curtis King and Representatives Chris Corry and Deb Manjarrez.
At this event, district leaders shared stories and data showing how addressing these funding issues would greatly support all schools in our region. Legislators also had an opportunity to share their knowledge and ask questions of our school leaders.
ESD 105's Key Funding Priorities for the 2025 Legislative Session:
- Fully Fund All MSOC Categories
- Provide Adequate Funding for Substitute Teachers & Classified Staff
- Fully Fund Special Education
We encourage school community members to familiarize yourselves with the funding issues that are impacting students across our region and Washington State.
