Hello Campus Leader,
My name is Michael Cline and I am the Vice President for Assessment & Enrichment within Student Government Association at Youngstown State University. One of my main responsibilities within my role is the operations of the Penguin Pantry. The Penguin Pantry is a collaboration with the Student Government Association and the Office of Student Advocacy and Support with the goal of serving our students by providing them with basic food and hygiene necessities. The pantry has served the student body for five years with the same goal. This semester, the pantry has seen a major increase in requests for items. We are celebrating because of the increased knowledge and use of the pantry.
With that being said, the unexpected growth of the Penguin Pantry has caused some of our staple items to become depleted. We are currently in need of many items for the pantry to continue its goal of providing items to the student body. Student Government Association is asking for some basic necessity items that would be beneficial to keep the pantry operational. We have compiled a list of our most needed items:
- Pasta & Sauce
- Ramen
- Mac & Cheese Instant Cups
- Rice
- Canned Tuna, Chicken, and Spam
- Pop-Tarts
- Instant Oatmeal
- Fruit Cups
- Peanut Butter
- Pudding Cups
- Canned Spaghetti
- Canned Ravioli
- Canned Beefaoni
- Nutri-Grain Bars
- Can Openers
- Men's Deodorant
- Toilet Paper
- Dish Soap
We are asking that donations be dropped off at the Penguin Pantry, located next to the Elm St. entrance to Kilcawley Center or the Student Government Association Offices, Kilcawley Center, Room 2218. If you would like to make a monetary donation, please donate through the YSU Foundation by clicking HERE. If making a monetary donation, please specify that the donation is for the Penguin Pantry.
