To Our Stony Brook Community:
Over the past several months, we’ve continued making steady progress on the university’s Middle States Accreditation Reaffirmation. Integrating feedback from their guided presentations in the spring, our working groups submitted new drafts of their respective Self-Study Report chapters, which were reviewed by university leadership over the summer. Key team members also began an exhaustive, ongoing review of the evidence collected to support the narrative and demonstrate our compliance with Middle States Standards.
It is now our great pleasure to present a draft copy of the report for your feedback and input. Please visit our Reaffirmation website, where you can read the report and complete a short survey on your insights. The report describes a number of areas, including the university’s mission, goals, dedication to ethics, educational experiences, and other topics relevant to our entire community. The survey will be available until Friday, November 10.
In the next few weeks, we will host the chair of our Middle States Site Visit team, who will give us additional input on the draft report and meet with university leadership, the Reaffirmation team, and other key stakeholders across Stony Brook. These will be critical steps preparing for submission of the final Self-Study Report in January 2024 and our site visit the following April.
Once again, we offer our sincerest thanks to the more than 100 faculty, students and staff who have contributed their time and efforts as members of our working groups, and to you for your participation, both past and yet to come. We look forward to seeing your feedback on the report and updating you on future progress.
Sincerely,
