A look at what's happening at UT Health Sciences

The day after the opening of UT Health Sciences' newest health hub, ShelbyCares Health Hub Raleigh, UnitedHealth Group announced a $4 million commitment to expand the network of neighborhood health hubs from 5 to 13 across Tennessee by the end of 2027, bringing preventive care directly to more communities that need it.

First Horizon Foundation has committed $5 million toward the new College of Medicine Interdisciplinary Building on the Memphis campus. The gift serves as a cornerstone of the project's $50 million philanthropic campaign to supplement the state's historic investment of $311 million for the building.

Dr. Ray Patterson's mentorship of physical therapy student Charles Clardy in the 1960s left a lasting impact that continues across generations to Clardy's son. Dr. Patterson and his wife are now giving back through a lecture series and philanthropy to support physical therapy education.

The College of Medicine welcomed its largest class of 181 first-year students at its annual White Coat Ceremony. The Class of 2030 begins its medical education with a commitment to earning trust, embracing responsibility and serving others.

For biomedical engineering student CJ Rudolph, mentorship, entrepreneurship training and industry connections helped him see a path for his research beyond the laboratory. His experience culminated in a pitch competition, where his potential medical device earned $5,000 in seed funding.
