Craft Cards for Homebound Seniors @ PSU Library
When: Wednesday, April 9th, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM
Where: PSU Library Sandbox (First floor). The Sandbox is located on the first floor on the west side of the library. Turn right after entering and take a left from the research/help desk.
What: Looking for a way to make a difference while getting crafty? Want to meet other PSU students while volunteering? Join PSU's Student Community Engagement Center and the PSU Library to volunteer your time making cards for Store to Door and Meals On Wheels to brighten a homebound senior's day! This collaboration honors National Library Week and National Volunteer Week in April!Â
Art supplies will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own to use. The library will bring out some of its poetry books to inspire our messages -- pick a favorite line or stanza to include in your message!

Housing and Belonging - A Community Conversation
When:Â Wednesday, April 9th from 5:30pm to 7:00pmWhere:Â Smith Memorial Student Union, Room m113c. Go to the SALP Clubhouse and then head to the St. John's Conference Room.
What:Â This April, we are bringing together a small group of PSU and Lewis & Clark students who have volunteered in the field of food insecurity and housing to participate in a thought-proving conversation on the topic of Housing & Belonging, hosted by Oregon Humanities' Conversation Project. Refreshments provided!Â

Become an Urban Farmer! 👩‍🌾When: Saturday, April 12th, from 10:00am to 12:00pm
Where: 358 N Russell St, Portland, OR 97227 (Albina Cooperative Garden)
What: Want to learn how to grow your own food while making a difference in the community? Have you ever tried organic gardening or composting? Join PSU's Student Community Engagement Center to volunteer your time learning about organic gardening, composting, pollinator habitat, and pruning while giving back to the local community.
Albina Cooperative Garden's mission is to grow food to share with coop members, community members, and especially those in need.
Accessibility Information:
- Volunteers should plan to wear outdoor/gardening gear per the weather, a water bottle and gloves. Tools will be provided on site.

Fashion Sorting Party with Dress for SuccessÂ
When: Wednesday, April 23rd from 10:00am to 12:00pm
Where: 1532 NE 37th Ave, Portland, OR
What:Â Do you love clothing? If so, you may enjoy working in one of the largest closets at Dress for Success Oregon! The mission of Dress for Success Oregon is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
At their Fashion Sorting Parties, the goal is to process as many clothing donations as possible, in preparation to be given to clients. We will be doing tasks such as:
- Sorting clothing donations to appropriate channelsÂ
- Inspecting clothing for qualityÂ
- Steaming and ironing clothing
- Sizing clothing and shoes

Walk and adoptable pup this spring!!
When: Weekly shifts starting Thursday, January 16th through March 20th from 11:20 am to 1:00 pmÂ
Where:Â Oregon Dog Rescue (6100 S Macadam Ave, Portland, OR 97239)
What:Â Love dogs? Want to help adoptable pups find their forever homes?
During this opportunity, you will take adoptable dogs on 45-60 minute walks near the rescue facility, encouraging good behaviors like sit, stay, heel, and paw. Volunteers must have prior experience walking dogs, particularly large breeds, and ensure dogs don’t interact with others on walks to prevent reactivity. Recommended attire for students during a shift includes pants (leggings OK), closed-toe shoes, and waterproof footwear if needed. No hats, please!

Serve Your City Series: Serve a Weekly lunchtime Meal at Blanchet House  When: Saturdays starting April 19th, fromÂ
10:30 am - 1:00 pm
Where: Blanchet House, 310 NW Glisan St, Portland, OR 97209
The group will have the option of MAXing over together from campus or arriving directly at Blanchet House.
What:Â Join fellow PSU students this Spring Term in helping prep and serve lunch at Blanchet House! The Student Community Engagement Center is excited to support the work of Blanchet House through this Serve Your City *Series* opportunity, where students will commit to a regular weekly shift throughout the term.Â

Are you looking to fill your capstone, elective, or practicum?Â
Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp (MHKC) is looking for PSU students to volunteer as counselors and spend two weeks at our overnight camp on Mt. Hood.Â
This immersive experience allows students to develop key personal and professional skills such as leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking while often building a deep sense of community.
Counselors play a vital role in delivering adaptable programming with activities like ziplining, rock climbing, horseback riding, swimming, and biking—fostering greater independence for campers and supporting them in having a safe, meaningful camp experience.Â

Save the Date: PSU’s Spring Day of Giving Early Bird Donation Portal: April 9th Day of Giving and challenges: April 16th-17 (36 hour campaing)
This year, we’re raising funds for the MAPS Eco-Explorer Mentorship Program and The Student Community Engagement Center, which brings PSU mentors to Alder Elementary in East Portland and service opportunities to PSU students. The MAPS Eco-Explorer Mentorship Program pairs PSU mentors with elementary students to explore environmental education, while the SCEC provides PSU students with meaningful volunteer experiences and community-driven projects.
Momentum from previous Giving Days grows each year, as PSU community members reconnect, spread the word, and inspire others to make a difference!
We’re looking for Virtual Ambassadors to help spread the word and promote our fundraiser. Ambassadors play a key role in sharing our mission, encouraging donations, and making a bigger impact. Fill out this short form if interested!
