Immigration Tip
“W” (Withdrawal) Deadline: Maintain Full-Time Enrollment!
The last day to withdraw from a full-semester course is Monday, October 28th. If you decide to withdraw from any full-semester courses at this time, there will be a “W” grade for the class on your transcript. The deadline to add late six-week sprint classes has already passed, so you will not be able to add any more courses for Fall 2019. Please do not withdraw from a course if you will be below full-time enrollment because it could cause you to lose your legal status. Loss of legal status is severe and could negatively impact future visa eligibility. Review the enrollment requirements to ensure that your legal status is safe.

Responsibilities of Pet Ownership

Have you thought about becoming a pet owner? Pet ownership requires time, attention, and money, and may not be a good idea for busy college students. If you are thinking about owning a pet, you should consider the following:
  • Dogs & cats live for 10-20 years – you need to make plans for the full lifespan of your pet, which means year-round care (including university break periods)
  • Pets require regular veterinary visits, which require time and money
  • Pets require regular exercise, companionship, and mental stimulation – your personal schedule should allow plenty of time to be with your pet
  • All dogs require bathroom training, leash training, and varying degrees of behavioral training – this requires a commitment of time and patience

If you already own a pet, learn more about caring for your pet, including local resources and information about traveling with or without your pet.

If you do not own a pet, but would like to have interaction with animals, check out some opportunities to interact with our furry friends!

Please be aware that neglecting or abusing an animal is a crime that could result in having your pet taken away from you, or cause you to be fined or arrested. It could also cause you to be suspended or dismissed from Miami University.
