Guiding next-gen innovators

Genave King Rogers Dean Kathy Taylor recently spoke on how the Collins College of Business provides “multidisciplinary experiences and classroom opportunities across the university” in ways that prepare students for strong leadership. By emphasizing the value of innovation and entrepreneurship and the importance of experiential learning, TU’s business school is preparing its alumni for fruitful postgraduate lives.  

Interdisciplinary information

Communication is undoubtedly one of the most essential components to providing efficient health care, especially in underserved populations. Taylen Hitchcock (BS ’20) recognized this fact early in her academic career and has since made incredible contributions to the advancement of information and medicine, or “infodemiology.” This interdisciplinary study prioritizes the dispersion of accurate information during health crises.  

More than a market

It is well understood that not every community is fortunate enough to have access to nourishing and fresh foods. TU alumnus Aaron “AJ” Johnson (BSBA ’09) is quelling this adversity with the first full-service grocery store in North Tulsa in 14 years: Oasis Fresh Market. For the Oasis team, relief comes in all forms, from financial assistance to child and health care, and aids the community with wraparound services to chart a brighter future.  

The perfect fit

Students in TU’s industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology program gain the knowledge and tools needed to develop successful work environments. By analyzing personality, job fit and workplace motivation, these prospective I-O psychologists can discern how to improve office environments, how to train employees for leadership positions and whether a job candidate and a company are a good match.
