Message from the Kansas CASA Association, Inc. State Director |
|
|
March is National Social Work Month, and I want to take a moment to recognize and thank the incredible social workers across Kansas who show up every day for children and families.
Social workers are often the steady presence in the midst of uncertainty—navigating complex systems, advocating for resources, and making difficult decisions with care and compassion. Their work is not easy, and too often it goes unseen. But it matters. It matters deeply.
At Kansas CASA Association, Inc., we are grateful to stand alongside social workers in this work. While CASA volunteers bring an additional voice into the courtroom, it is social workers who are coordinating services, supporting families, and helping move cases toward permanency. It truly takes all of us working together to ensure children who have experienced abuse or neglect have the opportunity for safe, stable, and permanent homes.
From rural to urban communities, CASA is here to make a difference across the state of Kansas—and that impact is only possible because of strong partnerships with dedicated professionals like you.
To every social worker: thank you for your commitment, your resilience, and your unwavering belief in better outcomes for children and families. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are proud to be in this work with you.
With gratitude,
Deena Gage, State Director
Kansas CASA Association, Inc.

By the Numbers: Kansas CASA in 2025 |
In 2025, CASA programs across Kansas continued to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children who have experienced abuse and neglect.
• 1,330 children served
• 763 trained volunteers
• 52,314 advocacy contacts made to support children and the individuals involved in their lives
• 99% of children served by CASA did not experience a recurrence of abuse
Each of these numbers represents more than a statistic—they reflect children who were seen, heard, and supported by a dedicated CASA volunteer.
Through consistent advocacy and strong collaboration with community partners, CASA volunteers help ensure that children’s needs remain at the center of every decision made on their behalf.
From rural to urban communities, CASA is here to make a difference across the state of Kansas. This impact is only possible because of the volunteers, professionals, and supporters who are committed to creating better outcomes for children and families.
Together, we are making a lasting difference.

Kansas CASA Featured on Podcast |
|
|
Kansas CASA Association, Inc. recently had the opportunity to share the CASA story on the Small Business Miracles podcast. During the conversation, we highlighted why volunteers matter, the importance of consistent adult presence in a child’s life, and the moments that remind us why this work is so meaningful.
One story shared was about a young woman at the Kansas State Fair who credited CASA with helping her make it back home to her mom—a powerful reminder of the real impact CASA volunteers have every day.
We are grateful to Jeff and the team at EAG Advertising & Marketing for helping us raise awareness across Kansas. From rural to urban communities, CASA continues to make a difference for children across the state, and platforms like this help us share that message with even more people.

Kansas CASA Connecting Across the State |
|
|
Last month, Kansas CASA Association, Inc. State Director Deena Gage traveled nearly 1,000 miles across northwest and southwest Kansas, meeting with community leaders and child welfare partners dedicated to better outcomes for children and families.
In Colby, she participated in a 15th Judicial District collaborative with judges, attorneys, educators, social workers, DCF representatives, and KU partners to focus on partnership, data, and stability for Kansas families. She also presented to the Liberal Area Coalition for Families at their February monthly meeting, sharing CASA’s mission and exploring ways to strengthen advocacy in the region.
From rural to urban communities, CASA is here, listening, building relationships, and working toward a future where every child who has experienced abuse or neglect has access to a CASA volunteer.
