Bryn Mawr Goes Phone Free

The Bryn Mawr Upper School is officially phone-free during the school day joining the Middle and Lower Schools as device-free divisions. Raneem Eberlein ’27 believes so much in the new initiative that she went to Annapolis to speak in favor of a proposed bill for public schools to adopt similar policies.   

Bryn Mawr Wins Sixth AP Computer Science Award

Once again, Bryn Mawr has won both College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Awards. Bryn Mawr is one of just 69 schools in the country and five in Maryland to win both awards. This is the sixth consecutive year that Bryn Mawr has received these recognitions. 

Upper School Writing Center Launches

The Upper School launched their collaborative Writing Center, where students can improve their writing for any subject through peer coaching in the student-centered program.

Update from Athletics

We've been so impressed with the talent of our winter athletes this season!  Both our varsity and JV squash teams have gone undefeated in the IAAM this season, and the varsity team is eyeing their fourth straight IAAM Conference Championship title. Our ice hockey team fought hard in the first round of playoffs, and our varsity basketball team is heading to playoffs.  Indoor track and field and swimming ended their seasons with strong showings in their respective conference championships. 

Update from the Arts

The Middle School Musical, Disney's Descendants: The Musical was fun for the whole family last weekend.  This weekend Upper School Dance Company will take the stage Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8 at 12:00 pm in Centennial Hall.  Tickets are available here.

The Upper School spring play will be The Future in the Instant, an adaptation of a short story written by Mary Josephs Fowler, a graduate of the Class of 1902.

• Immy and Ara Levitov ’31 performed in the Asian American Music Society Young Musicians Concert at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage on Feb. 1. 

• Sahasra Valluri ’26 had her paper, Investing in Our World: An Analysis of Sustainable Investing and the Chip Industry published in Curieux Academic Journal.  
• Senior Fionnoula Brandon ’25 won the inaugural Maryland High School Girls Squash Championship (Div 1) over Alina Sitwat ’28, giving Mawrtian Nation first and second place finishes.  
• The Baltimore Sun included Raneem Eberlein ’27 in an article about state legislation around cell phone use in schools.
