Improving the Quality of Life of Those in Need of Vision Care
UMSL College of Optometry has one of the most active Student Volunteers of Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) chapters in the country.  Every year, our SVOSH members travel to numerous foreign countries to team with optometrists to provide vision care to thousands of individuals, most of whom have never received such care. see more
World Sight Day
The UMSL optometry students donned World Sight Day t-shirts on October 8, 2014, in support of their profession. World Sight Day is an annual international event to raise awareness for the importance of ocular health. It was first implemented by the Lions Club to be an advocacy and awareness tool

The Missouri Optometric Association Annual Meeting: A Successful Gamble for the College of Optometry
The Annual Missouri Optometric Association meeting held October 2-5 was casino themed, “Bet on Optometry.” The College of Optometry, an annual sponsor of the meeting, hosted a Blackjack Tournament on Friday evening in Springfield, Missouri presenting a perfect opportunity for College alumni to reunite, an opportunity for students to network with optometrists, and the College of Optometry to sponsor a Friday evening reception and blackjack tournament. This first-time event, an idea of Dean Larry Davis, attracted between 50-75 alumni, students, and industry sponsors and raised more than $700 for College of Optometry scholarship fund. see more
Branding the College
The University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry is joining with the rest of the UMSL campus to showcase our unity with a new logo. The new logo will help define the college and as well as unite it with the rest of the campus.
            Over the years, the branding and feel of the College of Optometry has evolved. The new look and logo is a small step, but can have a huge impact on identifying us not only as the College of Optometry, but also as part of the larger UMSL campus. see more

Patient Care Center Plans Advance
What began as a visioning session last March has culminated in an invitation for the construction community to submit proposals for the UMSL Patient Care Center building. Incorporating ideas generated from students, staff, alumni, and faculty over the course of seven months, HOK delivered the design for a 48,000 square foot facility on time and within budget. see more
UMSL Students Continue to Excel on the National Boards

When an applicant makes the very important decision as to which College of Optometry they desire to attend, one of the critical factors is how well the students in that College perform on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) examinations. see more
