TESTING – WHO, WHERE, WHEN
Stony Brook reminds campus community members to continue to get tested according to our requirements, summarized below.
Employees:
Find the latest information on health screening and testing on the Stronger Together website links below. You’ll see our on-campus testing sites are open five days a week, and you’ll find the monthly testing schedule for fully vaccinated employees who have reported their status in SOLAR:
Vaccinated employees whose last name begins F - L – this is your week for testing!
If you are unvaccinated, or have not recorded your vaccination, you are required to test weekly.
Please also note that you can choose to test more often than each month. But remember: These test sites are for asymptomatic individuals and for surveillance purposes. If you do not feel well, please notify the Health Information Line (HIL) at (631) 632-5000, option 1 and do not come to campus to test.
Employees of the Hospital and Long Island State Veterans Home (LISVH) should follow their respective vaccination and testing requirements.
Non-Employees Working on Campus:
Non-Stony Brook employees who are physically present on campus are required to test weekly if unvaccinated and monthly if vaccinated. This requirement applies to our visiting scholars, fellows, regular vendors, and any others who are regularly present on campus.
Students:
REMINDER TO ‘MASK UP’ INDOORS
Until further notice, all faculty, staff, students and visitors, regardless of their vaccination status, must wear face coverings while inside University and Hospital buildings. This includes classrooms, hallways, libraries and other common spaces, as well as SBU buses and shuttles. It also includes the Health Sciences and Basic Sciences Towers, offices in Flowerfield, Tech Park, Ronkonkoma and Commack, and administrative areas within outpatient facilities and physician practices.
Face coverings are not required inside personal rooms at residence halls, while eating in on-campus dining areas, within personal offices or in non-public-facing personal workstations. Masks are not required outdoors.
Forgot your mask? There are dedicated vending machines with face masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) outside the Student Health Services building, the SAC, the Stony Brook Union, and Levels 2 and 3 of the HSC on East Campus. Many existing vending machines around campus also include masks and hand sanitizers.
FREE SPEECH AND CIVILITY: PART AND PARCEL TO OUR MISSION
“After more than a year of primarily virtual engagement, the moment has come to remind ourselves of our responsibilities as a public university to support academic freedom and freedom of expression.”
