Tree Care at Cully-Concordia International Grove

Come join the Cully and Concordia Tree Teams, Portland Parks & Recreation, and the Bureau of Environmental Services at the Cully-Concordia International Grove.
Located at the entrance to Cully and Concordia neighborhoods, this planting welcomes people coming and going from NE Lombard. The trees that have been planted are from all over the world, just like the people that make up these two communities. Some of these trees are rare and unusual for Portland, but our native species are also represented.
Friday, December 4th, 2015
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Cully-Concordia International Grove
NE 42nd Ave & NE Lombard St
4039 NE Alberta Ct.
Portland, OR 97211

It is time to provide a bit of care for this area, and for these trees. The trees need to be pruned, and mulched to continue their healthy growth. As is often the case, there are some invasive plants to remove on the site as well. We will also be planting a few new trees!
All are welcome to participate and help maintain and improve this great community resource.

Cully & Concordia Neighborhood Tree Care

Cully and Concordia Tree Teams are working with Portland Parks & Recreation to prune young trees. We will meet at Alliance High School at Meek for a pruning demonstration with snacks and coffee. After the demo, we will head out in small groups to prune young street trees. Young tree pruning is very important to the long term health of a tree. We can prevent and remedy many issues that would cause major problems as the tree grows.

Another Successful Street Tree Inventory Summit!

Urban Forestry’s Tree Summit, the grand finale for the Street Tree Inventory Project, was held on Saturday, November 7th.  Representatives from 34 neighborhoods and tree teams were in attendance!  Presentations were given on the Street Tree Inventory results for 15 out of 19 neighborhoods completed in 2015. Five additional short presentations were also given on various topics from tree diversity, tree care, and historical interpretation of neighborhoods through trees.
Participants worked together to form their neighborhood tree teams and draft neighborhood specific tree plans during the afternoon portion of the Summit.  This will result in each neighborhood partnering with Urban Forestry to offer two workshops this upcoming winter season on tree care, education, or special projects for their own neighborhoods. The hard work of completing the inventory and obtaining results now transforms into action for enhancing the street tree canopy, neighborhood by neighborhood!
In 2016 we will finish Portland’s first complete Street Tree Inventory. If your neighborhood has not yet participated in the project, apply by January 15th. More details are available at:
The project website is a great resource for more details. Summit presentations and project data links are below.
