Dear College of Education Community,
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you regarding commencement. Beginning in May 2023, our college will be hosting one all-inclusive commencement ceremony per year, in the spring, for all of our eligible graduates. We have made the decision to forego the fall ceremony in order to unite our students and their families in an annual celebration of our graduates, together in the stunning new Moody Center.
The decision to transition to a single commencement ceremony in the spring is rooted in our commitment to fostering a strong sense of community within the College of Education. This change will allow us to collectively honor and applaud the remarkable achievements of our graduates and the unwavering dedication of our faculty and administrative staff who have worked tirelessly each semester to help them reach the milestone accomplishment of graduation.
We understand that some of our students and families may be inconvenienced by this shift, but we believe the benefits of an annual, inclusive commencement for the college far outweigh any potential challenges. Our new schedule will also provide greater flexibility to students completing coursework in the summer semester, giving them the opportunity to join their peers in the spring celebration with their cohorts.
We are confident that this change will create a momentous occasion for students, faculty, staff, families and supporters of the college, one that will be remembered, and celebrated, for years to come.
With enthusiasm and heartfelt congratulations to all our soon-to-be graduates,
Dean Martinez and Associate Dean Bartholomew
