Rostrum Magazine–Online Now!

The new issue of Rostrum magazine focuses on our National Conference taking place next August. This conference features two days full of workshops, keynote speakers, and networking. If you are interested in attending, you can still sign up! Early bird registration closes on December 31. Be sure to read all about the conference on page 26.

National Speech and Debate Education Day

On March 1, we celebrate National Speech and Debate Education Day and the life-changing skills millions of students have learned from this activity. 
Team Captains » Preparations are already underway for this year and we're looking for team captains! Captains plan activities for their team on March 1 and can be parents, students, coaches, or volunteers. The sign up is available here
Poster Contest » Spread the word! Member students are eligible to enter our poster contest! The deadline for submissions is November 30

What is the District Tournament? 

You may have heard high school speech and debate competitors talk about the district tournament, also referred to as districts, national qualifiers, or quals. Students who attend districts compete against other students in their area as they attempt to qualify for a chance to compete at our National Speech & Debate Tournament, which is the largest academic competition in the world. If you know a student competing at districts this year, wish them luck!

The Road to Premier Distinction

Premier Distinction is the highest degree level in our Honor Society. Every time students compete at a tournament or complete a service activity, they're earning points and moving up in degrees. The roadmap below outlines some of the possible stops they can make on their way to our highest level of distinction.
