Dear Partners,
I hope this finds you in good health. As part of our ongoing commitment to evolve and improve the Community Challenge Grants (CCG) program, our team will be implementing some changes to strengthen the program and incorporate best practices. Please read on for important updates about CCG.
Throughout the year, we have gathered feedback from CCG grantees, applicants, and other stakeholders about their experiences with the program. In the spring, we hosted community focus groups attended by over 50 participants, representing all 11 supervisorial districts across the City. The focus groups, along with conversations with City staff and experienced grantmakers, helped us identify programmatic changes to improve the grantmaking experience. We are grateful to those who participated for their input and look forward to showing you our incorporation of programmatic feedback in the months to come.
During the same period, our team reviewed the City’s rules and regulations governing CCG. This process helped us identify administrative changes needed to align with today’s grantmaking practices. While we believe that updating the rules and regulations will benefit all applicants, the process to update them impacts when we can release the next CCG Request for Proposals (RFP). We understand that many of you are eager to apply, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience the delay may cause.
What to expect next:
The San Francisco Administrative Code dictates the process for revising CCG’s rules and regulations.
- Soon, we will post the proposed changes to CCG’s rules and regulations on our website (sf.gov/ccg) and will seek comments from the public during a required 30-day notice period.
-
Then, the proposed changes will go to the Board of Supervisors for review and approval.
- Once the Board process is complete, we will work to release the RFP and begin accepting applications.
We have an important opportunity before us to incorporate grantmaking best practices and community feedback prior to the start of the next grant cycle. We will keep you updated about our progress and the timing of the RFP by email and on our website. We will send an email when the proposed rules and regulations changes are posted and the 30-day public comment period begins.
Thank you for your continued interest in CCG. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to work to improve the program for the community. If you have questions in the meantime, please email me at robynn.takayama@sfgov.org.
In community,
Robynn Takayama
