Loyola Law School Jazz Salons present good music! And great music will play next Wednesday, March 15 during the second Jazz Salon of the spring 2023 semester.
This Jazz Salon honors the Women’s History Month theme for 2023, “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” It will feature the music of Terri Lyne Carrington, a jazz drummer, composer, producer, and educator who has dedicated much of her career to telling the stories of women in jazz.
This Jazz Salon will feature a survey of Carrington’s recorded output as a leader, including her latest release “New Standards.” This recording is one aspect of Carrington’s efforts to the broaden male-dominated sheet-music repertoire by including the music of women composers. “New Standards” has been celebrated as “Brimming with inspired and adventurous pieces that explore the limitless universe of jazz.”
