Visiting Curator: Danielle Wu
Danielle Wu is an independent curator and writer based in Brooklyn, New York, working at the intersection of critical race studies, feminist theory, and visual arts. Wu's most recent curatorial project, Ghost in the Ghost, at Tiger Strikes Asteroid, New York, featured artists who engaged with the synthetic ornamental properties of Asiatic femininity, from Chinese porcelain to Japanimation, which included an exhibition catalogue with an essay by Anna Anline Cheng.
Her essays have appeared in publications such as ArtAsiaPacific, The Offind, Hyperallergic, Vdrome, and unbag. She also curated the exhibitions Estate/Real Estate, BRIC Arts Media, New York; FREE SPACE, Miranda Kuo Gallery, New York; Women: Contemporary Chinese Art, Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, Missouri. Notable fellowships and grants include the Brooklyn Arts Council Grant and Recess Critical Writing Fellowship.

Umass Department of Art alumnus Geoffrey Owen Miller is very excited to
share that he will be showing work at this year's SPRING/BREAK Art Show with the
5-50 Gallery. He will be showing sculpture and installation work along with some really great charcoal drawings by Charles Sommer. Spring/Break has always been his favorite fare.

I am thoroughly enjoying my student teaching experience at West Springfield High School so far. The students are providing me with plenty of learning opportunities and challenges and are showing great interest in the lessons I have presented them with. This experience is definitely challenging and overwhelming at times, but I am so excited to be here to learn how to teach from one of the best art teachers in the area.

Locust Projects, Miami’s longest-running alternative art space, invites graduate-level artists to submit project proposals for an exhibition in our 400-sq ft Project Room during the summer of 2020. Exhibition proposals should reflect an expansion of an artist’s practice in conceptual scope, scale, or media. Proposals can reflect new work that will be created for the exhibition that has never been presented before or work created on site. Priority will be given to projects that demonstrate exceptionally unique methods, processes, or concepts, particularly those that could not be presented in a traditional gallery setting with an emphasis on site-specificity and installation. Jabberwocky, the English Department’s official undergraduate literary journal, is looking for submissions for its Spring 2020 issue! We publish once at the end of the semester and you can submit:
Up to three pieces of short fiction,
Up to six poems,
Up to three pieces of literary criticism/nonfiction,
And as much visual art as you’d like!
Submission deadline: Tuesday, March 31.
