Centennial celebration

A century ago, the predecessor to The University of Tulsa’s College of Law was founded at the former Central High School and moved to its current location on TU's campus 50 years ago. Through the decades, the law school has grown physically – adding a nationally recognized library and state-of-the-art moot courtroom – as well as metaphorically. Today, TU Law is home to the Tulsa Immigrant Resource Network, Terry West Civil Legal Clinic, B.C. Franklin Legal Clinic, and more programs in which students gain valuable real-world experience while aiding the community.

50 years of excellence

In the early 1970s, The University of Tulsa’s School of Nursing was forward thinking and established the importance of a bachelor’s of science in nursing degree for professional practice. This important degree improves patient outcomes and prepares graduates to become leaders in the health care industry. This year, the School of Nursing celebrated its 50th anniversary with continued growth, including the addition of new online nursing programs.

Key to communication

TU’s Mary K. Chapman Speech and Hearing Clinic recently marked 50 years of aiding community members as well as preparing students interested in careers in speech-language pathology and audiology. H.A. Chapman generously supported construction of the facility, which was named in honor of his wife. Since then, the clinic has provided free or low-cost treatment to more than 100 patients a year for a half-century. In addition to children, the clinic also works with adults who have suffered from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, or other communication disorders.

Chapman Clinic: Where community needs are heard

For half a century, the Mary K. Chapman Speech and Hearing Clinic has served more than 100 patients a year, providing free or low-cost treatment to individuals with communicative disorders who might otherwise have gone without aid. For TU students, the clinic provides on-campus pre-professional experience for those studying for a master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
