Class of 2021 -

  • It's scholarship season! Make sure to check out the scholarships listed below that have deadlines coming soon.  
  • I will be posting some items I need from you for graduation in our Class of 2021 MS Teams group.  Please be checking Teams and responding as I post them!
Class of 2022 -
  • Be on the lookout for a SPRING JUNIOR COUNSELOR WORKSHOP!  Details coming soon.
  • Consider taking the SAT or ACT this spring!  You can retake it later if needed, plus you'll check it off your list for your senior year. Deadline to register for the March SAT is February 12.  Learn more here.
  • Get in the habit of reading these newsletters for important information
  • Check out the scholarship page often as there are oftentimes scholarships for you to apply for NOW.
  • Use Spring of your Junior year to explore colleges that you might be interested in. Contact me if you need help in this process.   
Class of 2023 & 2024 - 
  • Sophomores - HOBY Youth Leadership Seminars are open for registration!  Learn more here and contact Mrs. Reinmuth for TBS specific registration information.  
  • Start now looking at colleges and exploring degrees that might interested you.  
  • Thinking maybe you would rather do a trade?  Start researching the requirements for trades here in Washington State.

Learn about Career Options

Visit the Washington Career Bridge website to explore career clusters and take a quiz to connect your interests with potential careers.
Once you know what jobs you might like, use the College and Career Compass to find related training programs and connect with a campus.
Then take time to speak with local employers about work opportunities. See if you can shadow someone on the job.

It's Scholarship Season!

TBS has an webpage dedicated to college scholarships and financial aid! Check the website often for updates and new opportunities.  
Private scholarships are one tool to help make college or training after high school more affordable.  There are many online search engines including theWashBoard.org. Just remember that you should never have to pay for a college scholarship search engine! 
Highlighted Scholarships:
Rotary #8 Scholarship - The Rotary Club of Tacoma # 8 awards several college and technical school scholarships annually in support of seniors graduating from Tacoma high schools.  Application must be to Mrs. Reinmuth by February 20, 2021
Coolidge Scholarship - This scholarship is an annually awarded, full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study. Learn more at coolidgescholars.org. Application deadline: February 24, 2021.  
Seattle Foundation’s Scholarships - SFS has officially launched their scholarships cycle for the 2020-21 academic year. Most applications have a deadline of March 1, 2021. Learn more about their plethora of scholarships on the SFS website. 
Ewing C. Kelly Scholarship - This scholarship is designed to reward students who demonstrate good citizenship while striving to attain their academic goals.  Application Deadline: March 10, 2021- Contact Mrs. Reinmuth for an application & more information
Ben B Cheney Scholarship - This $3,000 scholarship recognizes student athletes with plans to further their education in a vocational and technical school, or a 2- or 4-year college in the United States following graduation. One person from TBS is guaranteed to win! Click here to apply. Deadline: March 15, 2021
TwinStar Credit Union Scholarship - Are you a member of TwinStar Credit Union?  See Mrs. Reinmuth for an application for a $2,000 scholarship! Application deadline is March 31, 2021.
College Board Opportunity Scholarships (CLASS OF 2022) - The College Board Opportunity Scholarships are now open for class of 2022 students. The program lays out six simple steps that all students can take to get to college. Learn more how you can qualify for this scholarship on the College Board website.

National Youth Science Camp

The NYSC experience is hosted and operated by the National Youth Science Foundation (www.nysf.com) and is offered at no cost to participants, so that selected delegates may attend regardless of their financial status. Educational and recreational programming is provided free of charge. To learn more, visit the NYSCamp website.
Deadline to apply is February 28, 2021.

M.A.S.H Camp (formerly know as NurseCamp)

The application period for the 18th Annual MultiCare Nurse Camp, now known as MultiCare Academy for Students in Healthcare (M.A.S.H.), will open January 11th, 2021, and close March 12th, 2021. Next summer’s M.A.S.H. Camp 2021 will be held July 19th – 23rd. Learn more on their website.
