In this issue: trash pandas, self care, in tents oh my!
Week 2: The Golden Rule edition.
One panda per trash.
If you’re new to campus, you might not know that we have more than a few raccoons cruising for Canyon Vista quesadillas. However, current public health guidelines = no gatherings.
Studying in new outdoor spaces is in tents.
35 Tritons at a time can now drop-in to study in five outdoor spaces on campus, next to our “Class Outside the Box” classrooms in Warren and Revelle. For more, please read about this outdoor endeavor.
Do unto others...
As you do your weekly COVID tests. For every student who completes a perfect 10/10 tests this quarter (one each week), we will donate $50 up to a total of $500K to the Basic Needs Hub on campus.
Keep the 'self' in self-administered test.
As far as COVID tests go, sharing is decidedly not caring. These vended wonders are for personal use only.
What to expect when you're exposed.
Look, cases are rising—which means that the likelihood you’ll be exposed to COVID-19 is also on the uptick. This short animation can help you be prepared for what comes next after a positive result or close contact.
Vaccine and herd.
Other than for a specific date on which you can expect to be vaccinated. Because distribution is dependent on supply, it’s tough to pinpoint when specific groups will have access. For a comprehensive rundown, check out this UC San Diego Health FAQ.
Calling all mask models.
Sometimes it’s good to be a little selfie-ish. We’re curating photos of Tritons wearing face coverings and engaging in safe, physically distanced activities to use in future communications. Send your photos to VCSA@ucsd.edu, and consider yourself famous.
Self Care in a Pandemic
Don’t wait for burnout to set in to take care of yourself. It’s more important than ever to take a step back and pay attention to your mental and physical needs. You’ll be glad you did. While you’re at it, please consider signing up for our Student Health and Well-Being newsletter.
A Triton Tide lifts all boats.
And food makes us happy. Celebrate our inaugural DI season with gameday-inspired menu items at select locations on campus every weekend. Bonus: the first 20 people to order through the Tritons2Go app can win prizes from Athletics.
Be the change(maker) you wish to see.
Starting tomorrow, Changemaker Week is dedicated to inspiring changemaking for a just and equitable future—creating positive social change through public and community service, research, social innovation, social entrepreneurship, social justice, and more. Here’s the list of events.
It’s not just the second reference to a beloved NBC show—it’s an integral complement to self care. Tritons, stay together while we’re apart with resources and activities via the Virtual Student Union.
