"Being able to prove a photo is authentic will have important legal and cultural implications, especially as AI images become indistinguishable from the real thing," says Barkin. Jointly hosted by the Swope Endowed Lectures and the Office of Institutional Equity & Diversity, this year's Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration brought members of campus and the wider Tacoma community together to think about how we are called to make Dr. King's dream of first-class citizenship for all Americans a reality. The event featured a keynote by Fred Johnson III, Guy Vander Jagt Professor of History at Hope College, and the presentation of Puget Sound's Keep Living the Dream Award to The Black Collective, a community of black people dedicated to civic engagement through volunteer service.
