Alumna and multi-instrumentalist Grace Youn ’13 will deliver the Spring 2026 Pierce Lecture on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in Schneebeck Concert Hall. Youn will also lead two master classes.

3. Future Neuroscientists

Students in Prof. of Biology Siddharth Ramakrishnan’s advanced neuroscience class learned about cutting-edge brain research through a program with the Allen Institute.

Assoc. Prof. of Theatre Arts Wind Woods was recognized with the President's Excellence in Teaching Award. Woods was praised for blending creative and analytical approaches in the classroom and for encouraging students to examine the intersections of art, culture, and politics. Colleagues describe his courses as a “master class in responsive pedagogy,” and students highlight the sense of community and joy Woods cultivates. His artistic work provides space for exploring complex identities and demonstrates how art can challenge and disrupt.
Woods was one of several faculty members who were recently honored for their commitment to teaching excellence, scholarship, governance, and service.

Assoc. Prof. of Psychology Sara Protasi published an essay in Aeon titled “Sleep is delicious.” In the essay, Protasi argues that sleep is valuable for much more than our physical and mental health — that sleep itself can be pleasurable — and that the idea that we should reduce our sleep in the name of efficiency and productivity gets something fundamentally wrong about the human experience.

The Logger Men's and Women's Swimming teams were honored last week for their exceptional performance in the classroom, as both programs earned a spot on the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America list for the Fall 2025 semester. To qualify, teams must post a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The women's team surpassed this mark with a 3.57 team GPA, and the men's team finished the semester with a 3.31 GPA.

Last week, Puget Sound hosted our 40th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. The event featured a keynote address by Bishop Cedrick D. Bridgeforth and the presentation of the university's Keep Living the Dream Award to Dr. Tafona Ervin, CEO of the EdCollaborative and host of The Release podcast.
