Dorina Mitrea, Ph.D., department chair and professor of mathematics at Baylor, was named a 2024 Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, one of only four mathematicians from Baylor to be honored with the prestigious designation.

Baylor Mathematics had the pleasure of welcoming back one of its esteemed alumni, Brian Streit, for a captivating lecture on the vast career opportunities available for mathematicians, having made remarkable strides in industry and technology, specifically as a data scientist.

Will Erickson, Ph.D. Baylor Mathematics Postdoctoral Associate won the 2023 George Pólya Award, awarded by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).

In the fall of 2023, the Department of Mathematics was happy to welcome back Dr. Tracy Weyand to the department on sabbatical from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
