Countdown to Welcoming the World
The excitement is building as the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 draw nearer. In ten weeks the eyes of the world will be on the University of Oregon as thousands of athletes, fans, volunteers, and supporters head to campus for the July 15-24 competition. Hosting WCH Oregon22 is an incredible opportunity to spotlight the UO's excellence in research, teaching, and service to a global audience of one billion.
Below you'll find information about some of the impacts, opportunities, and resources.
Facilities
Buildings and outdoor areas surrounding Hayward Field and the Autzen Stadium complex will have limited access before and during the championships. See the maps below for the event footprint. Many public buildings such as museums, the Outdoor Program barn, and EMU dining venues will be open, but before heading to campus this summer, check with individual buildings for current hours and accessibility information.
Road Access
Due to the scale of preparation and number of visitors during WCH Oregon22, there will be significant traffic impacts on and around the UO campus and Autzen Stadium complex. Major roads that will be closed or have restricted access include East 13th Avenue, University Street, East 18th Avenue, Agate Street, East 15th Avenue, and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Maps and dates will be shared in the next Update.

During the event, approximately one-third of campus parking spaces will remain available for UO employee and student permit holders. The university is balancing the parking needs of employees, students, and the event. Campus parking will be impacted before, during, and after the event. See the maps below for impacted parking areas. Additional parking maps are available on the Transportation Services website.
- Summer parking permits go on sale May 16 at 10 a.m. for current permit holders. Additional information such as parking alternatives and pricing will be posted on the Transportation Services website prior to permits going on sale.
- Individuals with reserved spaces that are outside of the WCH Oregon22 security perimeter will be allowed access to their designated space. Reserved space holders will receive information about credentials by email.
- Pick up and drop off parking will be available at Olum and Moss Street Childcare Center. There will be access to the Outdoor Program Barn. Details about access to these sites are still being finalized and will be shared prior to the event.
Parking Alternatives
All employees are highly encouraged to share rides to and from campus, whether carpooling in personal cars, or taking advantage of free shuttles, LTD buses, or other car-free commute options.
- Free shuttles for employees will be provided in a variety of strategic locations in town. Details are still being finalized and will be shared in a future update.
- Increased opportunities for bike parking including bike valets will be available during the event.
- A LTD bus pass is free to all UO employees through the Umo app. LTD also has a park and ride option. Additional information is available on the LTD website.
