Meet STS Affiliated Faculty: Fred Turner


Prior to teaching at Stanford, Professor Turner was a Communications Professor at both Harvard and MIT. However, his STS roots have even earlier origins.

STS Student Kyla Bryant Makes History at NCAA Championships.


STS Student Kyla Bryant became the first Cardinal to represent Stanford at the NCAA Championships in four years. She qualified as an individual on the floor exercise and turned in a 9.9375 to tie for seventh and earn All-American honors. She now holds the best floor exercise score in school history. 

Washington Post article co-authored by STS Student and Affiliated Faculty


STS Student Caroline Reinhart and Affiliated Faculty Mikael Wolfe co-authored an article for the Washington Post about our nation’s lead-based drinking water infrastructure and the Biden administration's plan for a full retrofit of all estimated 10 million lead service lines nationwide.

Attention Seniors!


Enjoy a special farewell dinner with fellow majors and STS faculty before graduation. This year's STS Senior Dinner is Thursday, May 26th, from 5:00PM-8:30PM at the spectacular Holland-Yates residence in Portola Valley. All seniors are invited! 
The STS Commencement Ceremony will be Sunday, June 12th at the West Oval Grove.  If you plan to participate in the STS diploma ceremony (graduating or walking), the participant information form MUST be submitted.

Rising Sun Center for Opportunity Summer Program Manager


Rising Sun Center for Opportunity (formerly Rising Sun Energy Center) is the premier sustainability and workforce development non-profit in the Bay Area. The Summer Program Manager (SPM) position implements the Climate Careers program in a specific county, or set of counties, throughout the greater Bay Area and San Joaquin County while also supporting the overall goals of the Climate Careers program. The SPM will work with a Leader-In-Field Training (LIFT) and is jointly responsible for site office administration, youth management, client identification and scheduling, and oversight of service delivery to residential clients. About the TechSoup Global Network: the TSGN brings together 60+ partner organizations on six continents operating in 39 languages that have joined together to collaborate on supporting 1.3 million NGOs on meeting the world’s most pressing needs. The partners are all united by their dedication to creating social impact through access to technology.
 
As part of this internship you’ll support the delivery of action items coming out of the partner discussions on TSGN Sustainability, communicate with staff and partners, and monitor the progress of the overall project to keep it on schedule. Specifically, you will
  • Develop a status report and action plan summary for TSGN partners’ sustainability
  • Launch a pilot virtual meeting centered around partner collaboration that may be extended into a virtual meeting series
  • Create, track, and complete action items from partner sustainability conversations

Research Assistant Positions for Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society


Project: Pursuing Good Work in Tech: A Participatory Action Research Project. 
This participatory action research project will bring together students and young professionals in “tech” (broadly construed) to explore how future workers may pursue ethical, meaningful, and purposeful career paths. Several students will be hired to work between 5-10 hours per week. Application deadline is May 31, 2022 12:00 AM
