Dear Seniors, (copy to Parents/Guardians of Seniors)
Congratulations on completing a stressful, unprecedented senior fall term! Thank you for your hard work, perspective, good humor, and generous spirit as we all tried to figure out new ways of being active and engaged members of our community. Thank you for serving as important role models for your peers. We are proud of your efforts and your progress and are really hoping to share campus with you in February!
We hope this senior winter term experience will be a special one for your class. Your class has been impacted by challenging circumstances, events, and losses during your years at PA. We hope this five-week stretch from February 1-March 5, on campus together, will be an opportunity for connection and joy.
We write today to offer a preview of the winter term so that you and your families can make an informed decision about your plans in February. After reviewing these details, students should click on the link at the end of this email to complete a survey letting us know your plans.

WINTER TERM DETAILS
- Currently, we are thinking that seniors will reside in FLG, WQN, and WQS large dormitories. In the weeks leading up to your arrival, we will send out a housing survey so that you can indicated 3-7 peers with whom you would like to live. We will also send out packing lists and dorm expectations. Day students, we really hope you will join us in the dormitories! We will be using singles and two or three-room doubles. We will not be able to guarantee anyone a single.
- After quarantine, we plan to eat by dormitory, in Paresky. We hope to open Susie’s!
- We plan to open the OWHL, Borden, and Snyder for regular use by boarders. (Perhaps GW, Kemper and Underwood too!).
- We anticipate that dormitories will operate as one large pod (therefore no student masking or distancing in dormitories after initial quarantine, except in the presence of house counselors or other adults, who will always mask and maintain distance in the dorms).
- We will not have any commuting day students; all boarders will remain on campus for the entire five weeks (We anticipate: no coming and going, no visitors, no deliveries).
- All current posted winter athletic options on Blackboard will be available to our students from training in all traditional winter interscholastic sports with the respective varsity coaches as well as dance, Outdoor Pursuits (winter hiking!) and L.I.F.E. sports such as yoga and spin classes. In addition, baseball training and lacrosse will be led by our varsity coaches as well as futsal in the evenings. Every on-campus student will be able to access the fitness center, basketball courts and squash court outside of the formal athletic afternoon period. We also look forward to Free Skate opportunities in the rink as well as some “under the lights” weekend games!
- Here is our current draft of the February Weekender outlining the major events we hope to host for students on campus. We are also looking into some sort of Spring Fling opportunity (as you missed this social gathering last spring) and a Senior Oasis (an opportunity to focus entirely on self-care and connection).
