Generous Giving
I am consistently surprised by the generosity of Christ Church. I see people being generous in so many different ways. When I was brand new to Christ Church I saw Beverly and Lewis Pitzer welcome a young mother and child into the Church when they walked in during the Eucharist. You could tell that they felt awkward and maybe a bit out of place. Without hesitating this dynamic duo sprang into action, invited them to sit by them, and had the little girl laughing in no time. The mother may have felt mortified to have her daughter laughing out loud during such a solemn part in the service, but when she looked around she saw friendly faces instead of the judgment she may have been afraid of. We are generous in spirit. We are not afraid to break custom or sacred silence in order to do the holy work of being generous to our neighbor.
Blessings,
Fr. Nick

Thank You

For well over 30 years there has been a wonderful exchange between the youth of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia and (formerly) the Diocese of Bradford England, now the Diocese of Leeds.  I am honored to have been one of eight chosen to represent the DIOSWVA in the Bradford Youth Exchange this year!  We will be working/volunteering at community centers, visiting mosques and interacting with Muslims to find ways our two religions are similar, building relationships with the British youth, and exploring England.  I am beyond thrilled to be able to take part of the experience.  We will be leaving July 23rd and coming back August 9th (on my 17th birthday!).
The total cost of the 2.5 week trip is $1626 and is divided into thirds between the Diocese, our church, and our family ($542 each).  With your help and donations, I have exceeded my goal of raising the church's $542 needed to go on the life changing trip!  Those offering a $25 contribution will receive a postcard from England, $50 contribution will receive a calendar made up of photos from the trip, and a $75 contribution will receive a seat at an English themed dinner (no blood pudding!) and presentation of the trip.

Thank you for supporting me with donations and prayers for safe travels!

Cheerio,
Anneliese Williams

Support Grace Network!

Our Grace Network assignments for July are peanut butter (in 16 oz. or larger jars), toilet paper, female products, and deodorant.  They also are in need of grocery bags for the food pantry.  Use a Food Lion card, or Kroger Plus Shopper's Card and your donations will help the pantry as well as Christ Episcopal Church.  Should you not have time to shop, Barbara Holland or Sue Rosser will be delighted to assist.

Join Us!

Christ Episcopal Church is teeming with ways to get involved!  Take a look at our monthly calendar and join us for a variety of services, clubs, and activities.  Help others through Grace Network, volunteer to help in the office, join the Men's Club dinner on July 10, knit a prayer shawl, donate to St. Paul's Community closet and more!  Loaves and Fishes will be served on July 26 - a first for the summer months.  We invite and welcome all to become a part of the growing Christ Episcopal Church family!
