Grace Lower Level Training Room Malfunction and Zoom Instructions
Due to a hardware failure, the Grace LL Training Room currently cannot play audio through the room's speakers. Our vendor, Vista AV Integrations, is working to repair the hardware but in the meantime any audio for presentations must be routed through your computer speakers. We do not have an estimated repair time yet. Sorry for this inconvenience.
Additionally, in case you ever need them, Susan Hurley has kindly put together instructions on how to utilize the zoom technology in the lower level training room. You can find the instructions near the computer or the phone.

Steve Cohen | Manager, HRIS
What is one thing your colleagues should know about you?
From the time that I was eight years old, my dream job was to be the radio play by play announcer for the Chicago Cubs! Throughout high school and college, I took every radio and television production course that I could get my hands on (leading me to major in Radio Communications), and called play by play action for collegiate football, basketball and baseball games for several years in the early 2000’s. For my last two years of college, I served as the Sports Director for WONC-FM, and had the opportunity to interview active players from the Chicago Bulls, White Sox, NASCAR and even Pat Hughes, the (soon to be) hall of fame radio announcer for the Cubs.
Even though I left the industry in the late 2000’s, the skills that I learned in these years (public speaking, production, improvisation, etc) are all things that I still lean on 15 years later. I’ve always wanted to scratch that itch again by hosting a podcast…I just need something to talk about!
What is one of your proudest achievements in your career thus far?
It’s hard to think of one specific achievement but completing my SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management - Certified Professional) certification is up there. When I started working here in December 2014, I hadn’t spent a day in my life in Human Resources. Honestly, I didn’t even know if I would like my new job…I was just eager to start working at Notre Dame in any capacity. But quickly, I learned that this was a field that really spoke to me. For the longest time, I felt that my career didn’t really have purpose, and I always wanted to find a role or industry that let me give back and have meaningful change and impact. HR was the first job where I felt that what I did actually mattered. Learning about broad HR, and earning a certification felt like the culmination of that journey, but at the same time it opened a door to a new one.

Let’s do lunch!
As a reminder, starting Tuesday, January 17, the dining halls will be open and Campus Dining will have updated everyone in HR’s Irish1 cards to reflect the addition of a 5-meal plan (you may not see them on your account before January 17). Each month, through May, we will announce a new list of individuals for you each to schedule lunch with. The idea is to create an opportunity for everyone to get to know a different group of people each month, outside of the individuals they typically work with directly.
If you haven’t already, make sure you reach out to the individuals in your January group to schedule a time and location for you all to get together for lunch this month.
If you need a reminder, please see this list for your January lunch group.
Lunch is on us! The conversation is on you.
