Summertime offers an opportunity for many of us to relax and recharge. Whether it is taking a trip halfway around the world or just looking out of the kitchen window, adventure awaits us all. Hear from a few staff members in Administration and Finance about their summertime adventures.

The third annual A&F Breakfast After Dark was recently hosted by the A&F Staff Culture Advisory Council to celebrate our second and third shift team members in appreciation for all they do for A&F and the Institute as a whole – this great city of Georgia Tech simply could not operate without them. Many thanks to the A&F Staff Culture Advisory Council, our volunteers, and the numerous participants who contributed to the success of this event!

New roles have recently been announced in Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) to support the exponential growth of the department and strengthen its ability to execute strategic goals. Cedric Franklin, interim senior director of total rewards and compensation, and Jeff Leinbach, interim executive director of the Administrative Services Center, have been selected as GTHR’s new associate vice presidents.

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 1, all faculty, staff, and students who are active employees as of July 1 will be required to complete the 2024 Fall Biannual Compliance Training by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Aug. 28. 

Interviewing @Tech is a dynamic training course paired with a comprehensive suite of resources tailored to help navigate the staff hiring interview process with confidence. All 12-month supervisors (staff and faculty) who hire staff are required to complete the training by Aug. 31. 

If you are planning on hiring a student employee for the fall semester, or assist people leaders in the hiring process, register for an upcoming information session designed especially for you. Campus partners from the Federal Work Study office, the Administrative Services Center, and Georgia Tech Human Resources will share resources and timelines and answer questions.

As of July 1, qualified state employees are entitled to 240 hours of paid parental leave — an increase from the 120 hours previously provided.  

The University System of Georgia is moving forward with plans to select and implement a unified enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. A unified ERP will enhance the user experience for students, faculty, and staff across all 26 institutions through the standardization and unification of key central administrative systems onto a single technology platform.  

As part of Georgia Tech’s commitment to institutional compliance and adherence to government issued travel-related policies, Procurement and Business Services is sharing several updates to essential travel-related policies and procedures as well as clarifying common procedures to help ensure travelers understand how to complete their expense reports accurately and in a timely manner. Travelers who do not comply with these requirements will have their expense report returned, delaying reimbursement.
