March is a busy time in the semester, with midterms, Spring Break, and important end-of-semester reminders on the horizon. As you prepare for midterms, remember to take care of yourself—build in time to rest, stay hydrated, and make use of campus resources if you need support.
Residential Community Olympics (RCO) are coming up on Saturday, March 21. We hope to see you there representing your community.
Spring Break is also coming up soon. If you plan to remain in your residence hall or apartment during Spring Break, please make sure to complete the Spring Break Housing Form in the Housing Portal by the posted deadline. This helps our team ensure that buildings remain appropriately staffed and supported during the break period.
While the end of the semester may still feel far away, it’s never too early to start planning ahead. Residence halls and apartments will close for non-graduating students on May 7 at 12:00 p.m. Be sure to keep this date in mind as you begin making your travel plans and preparing for the end of the academic year.
We wish you the best of luck on your midterms and hope you have a safe and relaxing Spring Break!

Fire Drills & Fire Safety: What You Need to Know
Heads up Bears! Fire drills will be taking place in your buildings soon as part of WashU’s ongoing commitment to student safety. While they may briefly interrupt your day, these drills are an important way to make sure everyone knows exactly what to do if a real emergency occurs.
If a fire alarm sounds, residents are expected to exit the building immediately using the nearest stairwell (no elevators) and follow directions from Residential Life staff and emergency responders. Once outside, head to your designated Emergency Assembly Point (EAP). EAP locations can be found on the emergency maps located in each hall or at emergency.washu.edu.
A few quick safety reminders: always take alarms seriously, keep hallways and exits clear, do not prop doors open, and avoid candles or unauthorized appliances. Knowing the plan—and following it—helps keep you and your neighbors safe. Thanks for doing your part!

Bear Bodega, a new 24/7 convenience store, is coming to Ursa’s Fireside in late Spring 2026—bringing Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology to campus for a fully checkout-free experience.
Simply enter the store, pick up what you need, and go. The Just Walk Out system automatically detects the items you take and charges your selected payment method—no checkout lines required.
The store will offer a variety of grab-and-go meals, snacks, beverages, and commonly purchased convenience items and will accept Meal Points, Bear Bucks, credit, and debit.
Construction began on December 15. The store will be open 24/7, with WashU ID access required during certain hours.
Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to opening, and follow WashU Dining on Instagram for the latest news and behind-the-scenes progress.

Avoid using magnetic card holders, sleeves, or phone cases for your WashU ID and Room Key Cards. The magnetic material can damage the technology in your cards, causing them to stop working and potentially locking you out of your room. To keep your cards working properly, store them in a non-magnetic holder or wallet. In the event that your WashU ID stops working on any Residential Life facility, stop by the nearest Residential Life office for assistance.
