Introducing the Project MUSE Commons / Meeting Slides Available
May 13, 2014
Dear Project MUSE Publishers,
Our 2014 MUSE Publishers Meeting was our best yet! Well, we may be biased, but we were thrilled with the turn-out and the response from the journal and book publishers who attended and joined the discussion in Baltimore on April 24. We're already looking forward to seeing everyone again next year.
Announcing the Project MUSE Commons
We were excited to unveil the Project MUSE Commons at the Publishers meeting. The MUSE Commons is a new site we've created to highlight MUSE content and our content community.
At the outset, the three main components of the MUSE Commons will be:
1) Publicly available information (now live at musecommons.org),
2) A private area where you can find important information as well as discuss and collaborate with your fellow MUSE publishers (coming soon!)
3) Space where YOU can create content and engage with your own constituents.
The MUSE Commons was created using the "Commons in a Box" package of WordPress and BuddyPress components pioneered by the CUNY Academic Commons and used by such innovative sites as the MLA Commons.
Publisher Meeting Slides Available
We have lots more to tell you about the Project MUSE Commons (and trust us, we will!), but for the moment let's get everyone started using the Commons. Please head over to the MUSE Commons to download the meeting presentation slides
We were also delighted to have many tweets coming out of the meeting, and you can now experience the Publishers Meeting in 27 key tweets on the Commons.
We'll back in touch soon about the next phase of the Commons: signing all of you up to use the private publishers' area! Stay tuned.
All best wishes,
Elizabeth W. Brown

Project MUSE at AAUP
We won't have an exhibit at AAUP this time, but Terry and Liz will be at the continental breakfast (7:30-8:45) both mornings. Please join us for an informal MUSE "networking table."
