Campus Ministry Delegation Departs for 10th National Eucharistic Conference |
A Walsh University delegation, led by Father Albert Trudel, O.P., departed this morning for the 10th National Eucharistic Congress at the Indiana Convention Center. The cohort of students, faculty, and friends will join other delegations from Catholic colleges, universities, and dioceses, including the Youngstown Diocese and St. Paul Parish. This significant event aims to inspire devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. Father Albert anticipates the sessions, speakers, and celebrating Mass, hoping to bring back renewed enthusiasm and teachings to share with the Walsh University community.
The National Eucharistic Congress, running from July 17–21, will host more than 50,000 Catholics. The gathering is the first of its kind in 83 years, following the United States bishops' desire to inspire a revival of faith in the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

The annual Hoover Park Festival drew 750 people to the historic Hoover grounds to experience an afternoon of festivities. Festival-goers enjoyed two performances by the original Hoover Company calliope, a steam or air-powered musical instrument resembling an organ. The calliope, a fixture of local outings and parades, was driven around the city on Hoover Picnic mornings to "wake up" the citizens. Donated to Lake Township Historical Society in 2004, the calliope remains a cherished piece of local history. The festival also featured Hoover history presentations, tours of the Hoover Historical Center displays and garden, train rides, and displays by local historical organizations and the North Canton Public Library. The performance by the Canton Concert Band was also a hit!
