A Note from PAC Leader Kate Clarke
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and finding time to recharge! As I sit thinking about what theme I might focus upon in this message so many different ideas come to mind and two threads seem to weave through all my ideas.
First, staying connected to our work in this challenging day and second, compassion.
As Patient Advocates, we are so often motivated by doing “the right thing” and even when that is difficult there is an intrinsic reward in knowing that our values compass has stayed at true north! Even still, it can get exhausting, so I ask what are you doing to take care of yourself? As patient advocates we are so ready to place our needs, feelings and spirit aside to support and care for others but how can we continue to provide that support if we are depleted?
Please join me in making a commitment to self-care this summer! We can be so much more present for others when we first do more for ourselves.
