Pre-Health Advising Announcements
|
Hello future health professionals!
As the semester comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize all the hard work you’ve put in this fall. Whether you’re finishing finals, reflecting on your progress, or simply catching your breath, we hope you take some well-deserved time to rest and recharge over winter break.
Winter break can be a great opportunity to reflect on your goals, plan next steps, and take care of yourself. If you’re thinking ahead, this can also be a good time to review prerequisite planning, explore experiences for the coming year, or draft application materials at a low-pressure pace.
Please note that Pre-Health Advising appointments and email support WILL remain available during winter break, EXCEPT when the university is closed from December 24 through January 2. We’ll be happy to connect when we return.
We’re proud of your dedication and resilience this semester. Enjoy the break, spend time with those who support you, and come back ready for the next chapter.
Warm regards,
GW Pre-Health Advising Team

Gap Year Medical Assistant / Endoscopy Technician
Dr. Lakhani at Gastro Health in Reston, Virginia is providing senior students and alumni who are pre-health oriented (Pre-PA, Pre Nursing and Pre-Med) with a gap year opportunity. We currently have a few George Mason, UVA, VT and JMU alumni working with us and have had GW students in the past.
We have found that our office is a great learning environment for these students, not only gaining hands on clinical experience with patients, but we also are able to provide them with dedicated mentorship that prepares them for graduate school and the healthcare field as well as reference letters. Over the years many of our assistants have gained admission to Medical School, PA school and Nursing school.
We are again offering positions as medical assistants in our office and endoscopy technicians in our endo suites. Medical assistant's role include patient intake, triaging, rounding patients in rooms, taking vitals, prior authorizations, and medication refills. Endoscopy technicians assist our physicians during colonoscopies and endoscopies. This is a hands on position
