The NYU Department of Campus Safety recently received three reports of Motor Vehicle Thefts involving an electric bike and electric scooters that occurred within the last five days. These incidents occurred at and around Schwartz Hall, located at 345 East 24th Street, in Manhattan.
The first complainant, an NYU student, reported that they locked their e-scooter at the bike rack at Schwartz Hall on Thursday, July 3rd, at 11:00 a.m.. When they returned at 4:30 p.m., they realized the e-scooter was stolen. The complainant filed a police report with the NYPD.
On July 8th, 2024, at 4:14 p.m., two suspects were observed taking an e-bike locked up to a NYC bike rack located on the sidewalk in front of 433 1st Avenue. The suspects then moved to the bike rack at 338 East 25th street, where they cut the lock and took an e-scooter belonging to an NYU student. A police report was filed with the NYPD.
Below are photos of the individuals who are believed to have carried out the thefts on July 8th. It is unknown if the suspects in the photo are linked to the e-scooter theft on July 3rd.
